Subtasks let you subdivide a task into one or more steps. They are useful for breaking down large tasks into smaller, manageable actions. Subtasks start life as tasks but are easy to convert into subtasks.

  1. Create a subtask the same way you create a task.
  2. Drag it on top of the task where you want it to live as a subtask.

Expand and Contract Subtasks

You can toggle between showing and hiding subtasks by clicking the up or down arrow to the right of a task with subtasks.

Convert a Subtask to a Task

To reverse the process and turn a subtask into a task, select the subtask by clicking on it and use Edit > Outdent Reminder or by pressing Cmd + [ on your keyboard. You can also drag and drop a subtask to a different position on this list or an entirely new list.
