When you add a location to a task, a reminder will be triggered when your device detects you have arrived at the location you choose.

In order for this to work, you need to enable Location Services for Reminders. On a Mac, you do that from System Settings by going to Privacy and Security > Location Services and ensuring the toggle next to Reminders is turned on.

Then, follow the directions below to add a location to a task:

  1. Create a new task or select an existing task.
  2. Hover your cursor over the task and click the “i” button.
  3. Select the checkbox next to “At a Location.”
  4. Click “Enter Location” to search for the address you want to add.
  5. Choose whether you want the task to trigger when you arrive or leave the location.

Apple Reminders uses Apple Maps to search for task locations. If you don’t know the specific address of the place you want to use, you can search for business names like Target or Walmart to find the location you need.
